Recent News
Our work at the giCentre was mentioned in the latest Cartographic Journal editorial ; "[work at the giCentre] is an antidote to much of what we are seeing currently and unless we see more like theirs, it is questionable whether an exhibition or televsion series in years to come will have much to say about the quality of the cartography of the start of the 21st century"
As a member of programme committees for EuroVis, Geographic Information Science, Geomorphometry, Spatial Accuracy and IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology I've been pretty busy reviewing papers in the fields of GI Science and visualization.
2009 was a year of prizes for us in the giCentre including GISRUK 2009 AGI Best Paper, IEEE VAST Challenge, IEEE Infovis Honourable Mention, Google Research Prize. 2010 got off to a good start winning a commendation in the City University Staff Prize for Excellence in Research, the AGI Best Paper at GISRUK (fourth year running) and the UKMap Challenge.
There have now been over 50,000 downloads of LandSerf, since its release in 1998.
